My project for Fundementals of Production Design (aka: technical theatre). We're learning about costume design and I got Shakespeare's Macbeth :) LadyM has never looked so hot! :giggle:

A little about the design-- obviously its not done in the classic fashion. Some of my influences are probably obvious, but the design was inspired by FF8's Squall and Quistis, the heartless symbol from Kingdom Hearts, *Michelle84's jacket on her Iris-real-world character Elise Dubois, and a couple of the pants in the Victoria's Secret catalog.

Now as for the symbolism... her outfit, mainly due to the jacket, allows her to transform between a male and female look. Without her jacket, she is seductive, beautiful, and feminine, though with a tough edge. With the jacket, it gives her a more broad-shouldered look and removes the curves of her breasts. The red armwarmers are a prelude to the scenes in the play where she gets blood on her hands, and then later when she cannot seem to remove the stain of blood ("Out damn spot...!"). The symbol over her heart is based on the Heartless symbol, like I have mentioned, to imply that, literally, she has no heart. Besides its orginal meaning, it is empty and black... and spiky :) Her hair is white for a reason. It shows her initial innocence despite her dark exterior. By the end of the play I intend for her hair to become stained with blood that never comes out... giving her more sinister look, and helping portray the image of her descent into insanity (I mean, she jumps out of a tower at the end).

YES. I'm so proud of this...

And for the record, if the pose looks familiar, I based it off of Michelle's character I mentioned earlier... but I really didn't trace it. I made several modifications to the body form long before I actually did the lineart. So poo. =P

Thank you thank you! :)

What's really sad is the more I look at this character, the more I really, really want her outfit.

the greatest thing you'll ever learn is just to love and be loved in return.

the experience of survival is the key to the gravity of love
:lmao: I'm feeling the same way to tell you the truth! It's an awesome outfit, especially the jacket and pants.

That sound liek a very creative and cool project
and the bakcground, story and symbolism are well developed, very creative and very interesting.
even do I didn't like the play "Macbeth" I really like your design.
and you knew that Macbeth was a real king from Scotland; but he wasn't AT ALL like Shakespeare portrait him; he was good and just.
I read in an article that the people of Scotland are asking for an apology or a way of people to clean the name of Macbeth.
